APPLICATION INFORMATION,
Before continuing please read the University of Nairobi admission requirements.
Please ensure that you meet the admission requirements before applying.
- It is in your best interest to complete your own application. The University of Nairobi does not make use of representatives, agents or agencies during the application process. If you choose to make use of representatives, agents or agencies, you do so at own risk.
- The closing dates are non-negotiable. It is your responsibility to ensure you apply before the applicable deadline!
- It is of utmost importance that you provide your correct personal email, Mobile Number, postal addresses and Next of Kin contacts to enable the University of Nairobi to contact with you directly.
You will only be able to submit your online application once you have:
- Completed the full online application form, AND
- Uploaded all the necessary scanned supporting documents in .pdf format, AND
- Either paid the application fee by any of the provided means.
- If you have not successfully paid by either means, your form has not been submitted.
Once your application has been successfully submitted after you have clicked VERIFY and APPLY:
- You will no longer be able to do any further editing of your application via the Online Application system.
- You will be informed by SMS and Email what your allocated reference number is.
- You will also be sent other important procedures describing how to check your progress and application results on your Email.

Structure
The objectives of a Bachelor of Information Science (BIS) program are designed to provide students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies to pursue successful careers in various information-related roles. A BIS program aims to develop students' technical skills to effectively navigate and utilize information technologies. Students should acquire hands-on experience with relevant tools, software, and systems used in the field. BIS programs aim to instill a strong sense of ethical awareness and social responsibility in students. The field is a rapidly evolving field driven by technological advancements and changing societal needs.
Admission Requirements
A student must satisfy the prescribed University of Nairobi requirements for admission to the Faculty of Arts (hereinafter referred to as “the Faculty”) by having any of the following qualifications:
- K.C.S.E. with a mean grade C+ or equivalent.
- K.C.S.E. with a mean grade C plain or equivalent Plus a Diploma or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- K.C.S.E. with a mean grade C- or equivalent Plus a Certificate and a Diploma or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- K.C.E./E.A.C.E. Div. III/Ordinary GCE or equivalent Plus a Diploma or equivalent from a recognized post- secondary institution.
- K.A.C.E. or E.A.A.C.E/Advanced GCE Certificate with one principal pass Plus a Diploma or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- K.A.C.E. or E.A.A.C.E. certificate with two principal passes or equivalent.
- International Baccalaureate Diploma.
- A degree from a recognized University or equivalent.
- Diploma course holders shall be required to have covered at least three (3) course units of 45 contact hours each over a minimum period of two (2) semesters of 15 weeks or 270 contact hours.

These comprise the charges levied for various services that students, alumni and other individual or corporate stakeholders may seek from time to time during the studentship and afterwards. They cover items such as convocation, extension of studentship, hire of academic dress, Issuance of Transcripts, Certification of documents, Replacement of lost ID card; Amendment of Academic Records; Retention of Registration; Thesis/Dissertation Processing among others. These charges may vary from time to time.
